Minecraft Java Edition 1.19.1 is available and has some controversial changes, that some players aren't content with.

The first major change is the inclusion of player reporting, if they send abusive message in the game chat. The system allows you to identify specific servers and choose which messages to include, as well as add comments. Ian Blog Mojang / Microsoft moderators then will look over the reports and decide on actions. This applies to all servers server types, including private servers. Ian Blog Linking with that is another change to the text chat. IANBLOG It will add an annotation to the chat for each message that is not sent or if it is modified by the server.

Mojang states that players won't get banned for swearing, but the focus is more on "hate speech" or bullying, harassment sexual solicitation or real threats to others". If you are banned, it won't affect playing single-player.

Naturally, there's already mods to get around this, such as the No Chat Reports mod that claims to remove the signatures attached to chat messages and make them "impossible to track and associate the chat messages you send to Minecraft and, in turn, Microsoft account".

In case you missed it, Mojang also recently said no to NFTs and blockchain in Minecraft.
