Want to get a better Minecraft experience on Steam Deck or with Gamepads as a whole? Thanks to a new mod, it's easily possibly with the latest versions of Minecraft.

MidnightControls, which is a fork off the old and unmaintained LambdaControls, is the new mod. It is open source. The developer who took it on has made sure it's cleaned-up and working again. He also added support for Steam Deck. It worked quite well in my testing. CRAFTING I used the PolyMC Launcher, which is available for Linux and Steam Deck. You can find a previous guide on PolyMC here.

First up is the video example on how to do it followed by the text guide:

How to do it:

1. First, with PolyMC, set Steam Input to Gamepad with Mouse and the right trackpad set to Left Mouse click 2. Open PolyMC, create a new instance, and then set the mod loader for Fabric to Fabric. Click OK. 3. Click the View Mods link and then click the Download Mods link. 4. minecraft Pick the MidnightLib or MidnightControls Fabric API. 5. Once downloaded, load up your new Minecraft instance. 6. Go to the Options menu and select Controls.
