This creative initiative by Yeungnam University allowed for students to celebrate an important beginning of their college lives through a virtual Minecraft space constructed to reflect the campus they'll spend the next few years of their lives at.

The video that highlights the event features an auditorium filled with students sporting unique Minecraft skins, speakers from the staff on stage, a large campus to explore, exciting games for the participants, and spectacular fireworks to mark this day of celebration.

Yeungnam University discuss the "metaverse university" and the impressive students who created the project here. Yeungnam University Minecraft Server Club (YUMC) is responsible for this feat. Seo Seung-wan, president of YUMC He expressed his regret for the loss of interaction and communication in school due to COVID-19 prolongation. " MINECRAFT created this club as a way to create a student-led community that could participate in interactive activities using Minecraft's virtual world."

The members of YUMC collaborated to create the virtual version of their campus, and even included details that only students of the university would notice, such as their top restaurants on campus. They constructed all the important spots on their campus including the Central Library and the Chunma Art Center.

Yeungnam University has found the Minecraft metaverse version of its campus very useful and it is used regularly for important occasions like gatherings or military send-off ceremonies.

"We held the '21' freshmen admissions ceremony via metaverse in March this year," student Lee Bo-gyeong spoke about the ceremony of admission that Yeungnam University held in Minecraft. "We wanted to hold an admissions ceremony prepared by seniors of freshmen who did not get to have an official admissions ceremony due to COVID-19.
