Experts have no idea of the cause but they have recognized the trend of working out the mind by giving it simple, simple problems to solve and maintaining it active and healthy.

Dr Jessica Caldwell (right), neuropsychologist at the Cleveland Clinic, stated that the games are an easy way to train the brain.

My idea of these kinds of word games is that if you like playing them and they're offering you the opportunity to be challenged, so you can't do it by autopilot, and you must think about it, and then it's really serving you an important purpose in terms of promoting your brain health throughout your long,' said Dr. Jessica Caldwell, a neuropsychologist for Cleveland Clinic.

DailyMail.com was told by Dr Ronald Petersen at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester Minnesota that he recommends it to patients suffering from mental or memory problems.

The main benefit of games is that they are generally enjoyable and one can engage in them and not even realize that they are helping their brain longterm.

Add to that the real challenges these games provide and the potential learning of new words, phrases and ideas will keep your brain active.

'In order to keep your memory and thinking sharp the key is challenge and learning in the process,' Caldwell said.

'Those are the only ways that you're really actually exercising your brain, you're growing new neural pathways, while also supporting the neural pathways that were previously in place, so the key is you shouldn't just be doing nothing.'

Petersen explained that playing these kinds of games on a regular basis is a lifestyle factor that can impact the health of an individual in the immediate and long-term future, the same way regular cardio exercise and a balanced diet can increase health in the long run.

The rise of Wordle in the last few months has shown that there is a demand for quick, easy games that are played worldwide in the general population.

He also said that aging can be enhanced by people. This means that they can take more control over the way that their bodies age and less passively allow their bodies to age.

"Don't just sit and let things deteriorate mentally and physically,' Petersen said.

Petersen believes that this is due to 'plasticity' in the brain. Email

Brain plasticity is the ability of the brain to grow and expand over time.

Petersen believes that regular exercise can activate neurons and improve their plasticity which may help slow cognitive decline.

While Petersen claimed that this aspect could also be applicable to video games simple word games typically don't have any of the downsides.

Engaging in a video game, such as the renowned games like Minecraft and Call of Duty, can help stimulate neurons and help learn to improve their audio and visual response to stimuli.

These games can be highly addictive, though, and also cause other issues - such as how prolonged exposure to screens can affect a person's eyes and affect their sleep.
