Minecraft Java Edition Locks Out Old Accounts In March

Way back in 2020 the developers announced major changes to Minecraft: Java Edition, as players would soon have to switch from a Mojang account to one with a Microsoft account to keep playing. While it's an interminable time the developers have confirmed the date and released the final request for account migration.



As of March 10, you'll not be able to play Minecraft: Java Edition with an account with a Mojang account. Here are all the information about how you can migrate your account. Java Edition will be supported as usual following the change and will remain a separate entity from Bedrock. This is only a consolidation of the account system. You'll be able to use your old username, too but you'll need to have an Xbox gamertag to match it.
